Reading the DESIGN:

Nothing about the World Peace Project was ever documented. There are no photos, and no films; nothing to be otherwise enshrined. There is nothing for sale. With no formal value, it holds only the value given it by another. This project is an ongoing daily engagement that has been performed worldwide since 1973.

PREMISE

The visual arts have branched into two vast but noticeable domains. First, is any practice that aligns itself with an approved canon managed by recognized institutions. While the second embraces a more distributed and unsupervised form of making.

OTHER VOICES

"So focused are we on the curated, ever-changing images of devastation - the hurricanes and earthquakes, the terror attacks and torchlit marches - that we miss the underlying story lines, which unfold offscreen, without generating much notice or concern."

Martin Woessner, Author - The Art of Survival: On Santiago Zabala’s “Why Only Art Can Save Us”

STATEMENT

The World Peace Project is part of a vast catalog of itinerant art that focuses on cause and effect and not the material piece itself. It aims to produce an effect within the hearts and minds of those who live within the environment in which the work is placed. It does not necessarily aim to produce marketable art.
